Wireless Access with Mortise Integrated Reader Lock

Recognition Source expands its Integrated Reader Lock product line to include mortise hardware with deadbolt options.

ST. CHARLES, IL (March 28, 2002) – Schlage Wireless Access, the leading innovator in wireless applications for the on-line access control industry, unveiled Wireless Access Integrated Reader Locks (IRLs) incorporating mortise locks.  These locks include all of the elements needed at a door for wireless, on-line access control including key override as well as deadbolt options.  Most importantly they are compatible with every brand of EAC equipment.

“Many of our customers want a mortise lock for its heavier construction and deadbolt feature which gives higher security,” explained Fred Conforti, president of Schlage Wireless Access.  “Now we can offer wireless access control with mortise locks, giving an easy-to-install and cost-effective way to secure and monitor doors.”

Like the cylindrical Integrated Reader Lock before it, the mortise Integrated Reader Lock and its mating Panel Interface Module (PIM) have the potential to revolutionize the access control industry with their fast and easy installation.  The mortise version of the Integrated Reader Lock combines the reader, mortise lock, power supply, door position contacts and an optional request-to-exit sensor in one unit.  This eliminates the need for any wiring from the panel to the door and any wiring around the door thus cutting the system’s installation time by up to 80%.  A mortise IRL with everything required for on-line access control can actually be installed on a door in less than one hour.  It is available with PROX or magstripe readers.  In addition, the IRL-Mortise is available with an optional automatic deadbolt or mechanical key override.
