FAQs: Door Position

Why do I get false forced door alarms?

A forced door alarm occurs when a door position switch indicates that the door has been opened when the door was supposed to be locked. This usually occurs in a request to exit situation where there is a mechanical way to unlock the door without the ACP knowing that this has happened. A properly installed request to exit device will inform the ACP that a request to exit has been made and that the door will be opening soon. The ACP then masks the door state change for a short period of time to allow the egress. If the request to exit device is too slow to report the request, then a false forced door will occur. Make certain that any request to exit definitely proceeds any door position change of state. (back)
The ACP says the door is open when closed and closed when open, why?

If the ACP reports that the access point is open when it is closed and vice versa, then the voltage level that is being presented to the ACP from the PIM for a door open condition needs to be inverted. Refer to the CDT to reconfigure the PIM for proper operation. (back)
